Bridge to Dreams proves you’re never to old too rock & roll

Keith is a die hard fan of rock and roll.

Thanks to a resident-centred program implemented at Country Village Homes in Woodslee, Keith was able to fulfill his long-standing dream of attending a rock concert. And not just any rock concert – Keith got to rock out with the Godfather of Shock Rock, Alice Cooper.

When Keith moved into Country Village Homes, he thought going to a concert was a thing of the past due to changes in his mobility. But the team at Country Village Homes – Woodslee heard about his dream and decided to make it a reality under the Southbridge Care Homes Bridge to Dreams program.

Staff first provided Keith with CDs of his favorite music and a special pair of headphones. While Keith enjoyed this warm-up, the staff and management at Country Village planned a surprise for Keith by arranging for tickets and transportation to an Alice Cooper Concert at the Windsor Casino. Home Activity Aides Paige and Ashley accompanied Keith to the concert to ensure his care and safety during the event.

While Keith’s Dream was fulfilled in March, the memories have not faded. Keith is still singing songs from the concert and whenever staff mention the concert, Keith raises his hands in the air in a thank you salute and chants, “Concert, Concert, Concert.”

Operated by Southbridge Care Homes, Country Village Homes – Woodslee implemented Bridge to Dreams, a resident-centered initiative developed by Southbridge Care Homes in partnership with the home.

“The Bridge to Dreams program is a purposeful way for us to honour our residents in meaningful ways, and together with the direct support of staff, we were able to do just that,” remarked Keith McIntosh, Chief Executive Officer of Southbridge Care Homes.

Country Village Homes – Woodslee is home to 104 residents in Woodslee, Ontario.
