OWEN SOUND (Sept. 23, 2019) — Dr. Merrilee Fullerton, Minister of Long-Term Care, was joined today by Bill Walker, Associate Minister of Energy and MPP for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound, at Maple View Long-Term Care Residence to reconfirm the award of 91 new long-term care beds for Southbridge in Owen Sound.
The 91 beds will be combined with 69 existing beds as part of the new 160-bed Southbridge project in Owen Sound.
“Our government is creating a 21st century long-term care system that is resident-centred and builds capacity and access for residents and caregivers across Ontario,” said Fullerton. “We want to ensure that Ontarians get the care they need when they need it and investing in more long-term care spaces across the province is a key part of our plan.”
“We are pleased to be able to not only maintain long-term care in Owen Sound, but through the support of MPP Bill Walker and the Ministry of Long-Term Care, expand our capacity by an additional 91 beds,” said Southbridge Managing Director Keith McIntosh. “These 160 total beds will continue our commitment to providing consistent, high-quality health care for Owen Sound seniors both now and into the future.”
Operated by Southbridge Care Homes, Maple View Long-Term Care Home works closely with the South West Local Health Integration Network, which helps fund and coordinate services for residents in the region.
