Royal Canadian Air Force Veteran & Chelsey Park Long Term Care Resident, Arthur Lee, Receives Quilt of Valour

Long term care resident recognized for his service and valour

(Cambridge, ON – April 19, 2018)  Chelsey Park Long Term Care Resident, Arthur Lee, was recognized for his service with the Royal Canadian Air Force with a special presentation by Quilts of Valour Canada at the home on Saturday, April 7th.

In front of friends and loved ones, the 94 year old veteran was presented with the Quilt of Valour.  Handmade by Marilyn Hawkins of Tillsonburg, the quilt included imagery of Canada’s air demonstration squadron, the Snowbirds.

Seated next to his wife of 68 years, Arthur was overcome with emotion as he was wrapped in the quilt during the ceremony.  Presenting the quilt on behalf of Quilts of Valour Canada, Don Oliphant read out the inscription stitched onto the quilt, “Handmade with love, respect and gratitude for your sacrifice to Canada. May the hugs stitched into this quilt give you comfort, strength and love.”

“On behalf of your family here at Chesley Park, the staff and fellow residents, we want to thank you for your service Arthur.  We are forever grateful for your commitment to our country and our freedom and we honour you,” commented Suzi Holster, Executive Director of Chelsey Park Long Term Care Home.
