Jean Julian was still young when he arrived at Pinecrest Nursing Home in Plantagenet, Ontario.

A native of France, Jean has always enjoyed cultivating his France-related interests and spending time with his family. That’s why his wife and daughter, together with Bridge to Dreams, had the idea to take him to visit Les Mosaïques de Gatineau.

Bridge to Dreams is a Southbridge Care Homes resident-centered program implemented at Pinecrest Nursing Home in Plantagenet.

Les Mosaïques de Gatineau is a world-famous horticultural exhibit, consisting of 5.5 million plants of 210 species and varieties, and 45 majestic floral masterpieces composed of more than 125 works.

On Oct. 2, 2018 Jean had the chance to admire some of his hockey player idols among the mosaics. An unforgettable trip for him and his family.

Operated by Southbridge Care Homes, Pinecrest Nursing Home implemented Bridge to Dreams, a resident-centered initiative developed by Southbridge Care Homes in partnership with the home. Bridge to Dreams encourages seniors to rekindle their passions and encourages them to celebrate life to the fullest.

“The Bridge to Dreams program is a purposeful way for us to honour our residents in meaningful ways, and together with the direct support of staff, we were able to do just that,” remarked Ryan Bell, Chief Operating Officer of Southbridge Care Homes.

Pinecrest is a 60-bed long-term care home located in the quiet country community of Plantagenet, Ontario, less than an hour’s drive from Ottawa.
