Ed Brush has been a life long Santa enthusiast. Throughout his life he has done many appearances as Santa in malls and Christmas parades. Ed is known for spreading holiday cheer within the walls of Hope Street Terrace. He often dresses up as Santa during the holidays and always jumps at the opportunity to make the holiday season bright through his Santa personality.

This year Ed approached the team at Hope Street Terrace about filming a Santa show. His dream was to create a magical show for the residents and families of the home to enjoy during the holiday season. The Recreation staff met with Ed on several occasions before the event to help create the script and finalize all the details. A fully decorated set, along with milk and cookies (of course) was created to help make the show extra special.  On November 5th, 2019 with the volunteer services of Two Blue Shirts Productions, Ed’s Dream became a reality.

After a month of anxiously waiting for his video, Ed finally had the opportunity to watch himself in action. He was over the moon with the result and can’t wait to share his holiday cheer with everyone.   A copy of this video can be seen below, on the Southbridge Care Homes YouTube channel.

Bridge to Dreams is a resident-centered initiative developed by Southbridge Care Homes in partnership with the homes it operates. The program encourages seniors to rekindle their passions and encourages them to celebrate life to the fullest.

“The Bridge to Dreams program is a purposeful way for us to honour our residents in meaningful ways, and together with the direct support of staff, we were able to make a Dream come true for Ed”, remarked Southbridge Chief Executive Officer Ryan Bell.

Hope Street Terrace is a 97 bed long-term care home located in Port Hope, Ontario.
