95 MORE LONG-TERM CARE BEDS FOR SENIORS IN CORNWALL

Parisien Manor to more than double resident capacity

CORNWALL, ON – MAY 4, 2018 – The Ministry of Health and Long Term Care has created 95 new long-term care beds at Parisien Manor in Cornwall. Jim McDonell, MPP for Stormont—Dundas—South Glengarry, was in Cornwall to make the announcement in the existing long-term care home, alongside Southbridge Care Homes’ Director of Operations, Richard Franzke. Currently, Parisien Manor is home to 65 long-term care residents. The addition of 95 long-term care beds will allow for more seniors to receive the care they require.

“I am pleased to join Parisien Manor in announcing that 95 more patients will be able to receive Long-Term Care services close to home,” said McDonell. “Our community’s need for greater Long-Term Care capacity has been the subject of persistent and loud advocacy for years. I am proud that our community’s voice is beginning to be heard, although much work remains to be done. The seniors who built the Ontario we know and cherish deserve to receive the care they need promptly and locally. The most recent announcements will assist us in relieving the pressure of long wait lists today, but it is important to redouble our efforts to ensure that sufficient capacity will be in place for tomorrow’s seniors.”

Operated by Southbridge Care Homes, Parisien Manor works closely with the Champlain Local Health Integration Network, which helps fund and coordinate services for residents in the region. For more information about Parisien Manor, please visit www.parisienmanor.ca.

“We are pleased to be able to not only maintain long-term care in Cornwall, but through the support of MPP Jim McDonell, expand our capacity by an additional 95 beds,” said Franzke. “These beds will continue our commitment to providing consistent, high-quality health care for Cornwall seniors both now and into the future.”
